Easter Market

Hi kids!

This is just to remind you that next Tuesday, April 3 there will be the Easter Market at the High School. I will reserve a stand for our class. All the funds we manage to raise will go toward your end of the year field trip.

I'm sure it will be a success.

Ms. A' s hobbies

Hello all!

Let's see. I have many hobbies and the space provided here would not be enough to describe them all so I'll coose just a few to talk about now. I love reading, traveling, and arts and crafts. I try to do these as much as possible. I spend lots of time cooking and inventing new recipes. I also like wriitng short stories and poems but most of all I love spending time with my students, talking and discussing, learning more about you and from you :) Oh, we can't forget how much Ms. A likes playing soccer with you and I suppose eating different kinds of chocolate can be classified as a hobby too.

Have a great weekend!

Ms. A

Faster than Superman and the speed of light.

PreacherTom writes "Scientists at the NEC Research Institute in

Princeton, NJ are reporting that they have [0]broken the speed of light.

For the experiment, the researchers manipulated a vapor of

laser-irradiated atoms, causing a pulse that propagates about 300 times

faster than light would travel in a vacuum. The pulse seemed to exit the

chamber even before entering it." This research was published in Nature,

so presumably it was peer-reviewed. It's impossible from the CBC story to

determine what is being claimed. First of all they get the physics wrong

by asserting that Einstein's special relativity only decrees that matter

cannot exceed the speed of light. Wrong. Matter cannot touch the speed of

light in vacuum; energy (e.g. light) cannot exceed it; and information

cannot be transferred faster than this limit. What exactly the

researchers achieved, and what they claim, can only be determined at this

point by subscribers to Nature.

Physical Properties

Physical properties can be observed or measured without changing the composition of matter. Physical properties are used to observe and describe matter.

Physical properties include: appearance, texture, color, odor, melting point, boiling point, density, solubility, polarity, and many others.

The three states of matter are: solid, liquid, and gas. The melting point and boiling point are related to changes of the state of matter. All matter may exist in any of three physical states of matter.

In the graphic on the left the solid and liquid forms of water - ice are shown.
